One of the first things we saw, after we parked the Fan Van and fired up the grill (grilled chicken with Carver's BBQ sauce, and cold watermelon for dessert). Talk about a great Welcome!
The warm welcomes continued, when we entered the Pits. We were thrilled to see that so many of our good friends had made the trip!
(Plus, there were some beautiful bikes to admire!)
It was a scorcher. Riders AND fans did all they could to keep hydrated and cool.
Even in the blistering heat, there were smiles everywhere. I love the comradery at the race track, but Ohio half-miles seem to generate an easygoing grassroots atmosphere that I truly love.
Our buddy, Dave, was there. Chew enjoyed lending a hand, in his Pits... and listening to some great "Races-Of-Yesteryear" tales.
Dave even snapped a picture of me, working during an intermission. I NEVER thought I'd see the day when Aldana was snapping MY photo. I was very humbled!
It felt like it had been AGES since we saw Sammy Sweet! I was so happy to see that contagious smile of his... not to mention, his awesome style on that pea gravel track!
Of course, there was some great racing, too.
